Contract type:  Standard
Work Type:  On-site
Part Time / Full Time:  Full Time

Diaverum is a Swedish-born, multinational healthcare organisation providing life-enhancing renal care to patients with chronic kidney disease. With more than 15,000 employees across 25 countries, and over 1,400 colleagues in 33 cities and towns across the Kingdom, we combine global experience with strong local presence. Our vision is to transform renal care by broadening access to high-quality kidney care. This is enabled by our standardised care delivery model, continuously evolving digital and AI capabilities, and people who care with competence, passion and inspiration.

At Diaverum Saudi Arabia, infection control is not a compliance checkbox. It is a daily discipline that protects every patient who walks through our clinic doors. In a dialysis setting, where patients attend multiple times per week and carry heightened vulnerability, infection prevention is directly tied to patient safety and clinical outcomes.

We are now looking for an Infection Control Practitioner who implements, monitors and strengthens infection control practices across our clinics, keeping patients and staff safe every session.

The Role

Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for implementing and overseeing infection control activities across Diaverum clinics under the direction of the Infection Control Specialist. You monitor clinic and laboratory data, investigate incidents, deliver staff education and ensure compliance with local and international infection control standards.

The Infection Control Practitioner works under the direction of and reports technically and functionally to the Head of Infection Control, with administrative reporting to the Clinic Manager.

What You Will Do

You will maintain continuous surveillance, drive compliance and build infection control capability across your assigned clinics.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting Dialysis Event surveillance using NHSN definitions and methodology, including bloodstream infections, intravenous antimicrobial starts, and pus, redness or increased swelling at the vascular-access site.
  • Monitoring dialysis water-treatment systems and dialysate quality, including microbiological and endotoxin testing in accordance with applicable AAMI/ISO standards.
  • Conducting surveillance and implementing infection-prevention measures for arteriovenous fistulas, grafts and central venous catheters.
  • Monitoring dialysis-machine and station cleaning and disinfection between patients and shifts, including chairside cleaning and disinfection audits.
  • Monitoring HBV, HCV and HIV screening and follow-up protocols.
  • Ensuring appropriate isolation/cohorting of HBsAg-positive patients and the use of dedicated dialysis machines, equipment, supplies and staff, as required by the approved policy.
  • Managing occupational exposure to blood and body fluids, including immediate assessment, reporting, post-exposure prophylaxis and follow-up.
  • Investigating dialysis-related infection events, clusters, suspected transmission and seroconversion under the direction of the Head of Infection Control.
  • Monitoring staff and patient vaccination, serology and infection-control competency requirements.

What matters most in this role is consistency. Infection control works when it is practiced every day, not only during audits.

Who You Are

You are detail-oriented, proactive and comfortable working across clinical and administrative teams. You do not wait for problems to escalate before you act.

You will be well-suited to this role if you:

  • Apply infection control standards with precision and follow through on every finding.
  • Communicate clearly with nurses, physicians and managers at all levels.
  • Are comfortable using digital tools and open to AI and technology-enabled clinical practice.
  • Stay current on international accreditation standards and local MOH requirements.
  • Work independently across multiple clinic areas without losing focus.
  • See staff education as a core part of the role, not an add-on.

Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for someone with real, hands-on experience in infection control in a clinical setting.

What we need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Medical Sciences, Public Health or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of continuous nursing experience, with at least 2 years of direct infection control experience in an acute care or related facility.
  • For non-nurses: minimum of 2 years of recent infection control experience in an acute care or related facility.
  • Experience in a dialysis, ESRD or renal-care setting
  • Completed coursework in epidemiology, infection control or a related area of expertise.
  • Recognised Professional Nursing Licensure from country of origin.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, spoken and written.
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic computer systems

What you need to be able to do:

  • Infection control in a dialysis or renal care setting.
  • Implementing and monitoring compliance with JCI, CBAHI or MOH standards.
  • Conducting infection control audits and preparing regulatory reports.
  • Delivering staff education and orientation programs.

What gives you an edge:

  • Certificate Board in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent.
  • Experience with dialysis-specific infection control protocols.
  • Familiarity with Saudi MOH reporting systems and infection surveillance platforms.
  • Experience benchmarking infection rates across multiple clinic sites.
  • Experience conducting Dialysis Event surveillance using NHSN definitions and methodology.
  • Experience analyzing and benchmarking dialysis-related infection rates across multiple clinics.
  • Knowledge of dialysis water and dialysate quality-monitoring requirements.

What Makes This Role Meaningful

Dialysis patients attend treatment multiple times per week, every week. Their vulnerability to infection is high and the consequences of a preventable infection are serious. Your work as an Infection Control Practitioner directly reduces that risk. Every audit you complete, every staff member you train and every outbreak you catch early is a direct contribution to patient safety across our clinics.

This is not a back-office role. You will be present in the clinic, visible to the team and connected to outcomes that matter. Diaverum has a clear purpose and a long-term presence in Saudi Arabia.
