Mission and Responsibilities of the Area Manager:

This professional will be responsible for ensuring the operational execution of the units under their remit, coordinating with cross-functional departments to achieve local objectives and liaising with relevant local stakeholders whose operational impact affects the business. They will translate the company's operational management goals into local unit objectives, working closely with teams on the ground, monitoring performance and reporting centrally.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the operational budget for each unit across various areas, agreeing on targets with the management board and local leadership.

  • Ensure budget adherence by working closely and frequently with clinical teams to detect variances and causes, continually adjusting resources, and influencing activity volume.

  • Promote compliance with company standards within clinics, ensuring their adoption, implementation, and ongoing adherence.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional departments to ensure adequate resourcing with high efficiency.


Key Areas of Focus:

Materials and Services:
Ensure the efficient supply of materials and services to the units, driving operational efficiency. Coordinate with central Procurement for the execution of service contracts and consumables supply. Monitor specific unit consumption, identify deviations and root causes, and support relevant purchasing processes and local inventory management.

Equipment and Infrastructure:
Ensure that equipment and infrastructure effectively support the operational activities of the units, coordinating with central Facilities Management and Maintenance for oversight, maintenance, and legal compliance.

Staff Scheduling and Operations:
Manage the operational staff schedules, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and operational efficiency. This includes approval of planned schedules, monitoring and validating actual schedules, and approving overtime. Encourage resource sharing between units to meet regional needs effectively.

Capacity vs. Workload Analysis:
Ensure resource adequacy, propose adjustments to operating shifts, and lead the implementation of any changes.

Compliance and Auditing:
Ensure compliance with company-wide policies, processes, and procedures by promoting operational audits.

Continuous Improvement:
Support the implementation of projects aimed at continuous quality and efficiency improvement.

Team Coordination and Leadership:
Coordinate unit management teams, fostering motivation, training, and collaboration between local units. Conduct regular operational follow-up meetings with clinical leadership teams to monitor performance, identify deviations, and agree on corrective and preventive actions.

Problem Solving:
Support local teams in resolving issues and driving continuous improvement.


Role Requirements:

Qualifications:
University degree (minimum Bachelor's level) in Management, Engineering, or other relevant fields.

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' professional experience in healthcare management roles. Experience in areas that provide broad insight into the healthcare sector, particularly dialysis, is highly valued. Experience in team management and management control functions is also considered a plus.

IT Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and Power BI.

Management Tools:
Familiarity with management tools such as ERPs, CRMs, and Asset Management systems is valued. Knowledge of quality and environmental management systems is also a plus.

Languages:
Fluent in Portuguese and English.
