We are now seeking an experienced Head of Facilities to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of our UK estates and facilities function.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Country Managing Director, the Head of Facilities will lead the UK Facilities function, ensuring all clinics are safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for purpose. You will oversee both hard and soft facilities management, manage facilities spend, and act as the senior subject matter expert and advisor on estates compliance, best practice and legislative change. 📚💙
This role is critical to ensuring compliance with healthcare estates standards, including HTMs, HBNs, CQC requirements, Building Regulations and High-Risk Building legislation, while delivering value for money and uninterrupted patient services across our estate.
Regular UK travel is required, alongside flexible home working and attendance at our St Albans Head office. You will be required to participate in a national on-call rota, providing out-of-hours estates support as required.
Key Responsibilities
Healthcare Estates Compliance & Governance
- Provide leadership and assurance for compliance with HTMs, HBNs, CQC requirements, Building Regulations and statutory estates legislation.
- Ensure estates risks are identified, mitigated and escalated through appropriate governance frameworks.
- Support CQC inspections and regulatory reviews, providing evidence, assurance and action plans.
- Promote a strong culture of compliance, safety and accountability across all sites.
Statutory Responsible Person Duties
- Act as Responsible Person for Domestic Water Safety (HTM 04-01) and Fire Safety (HTM 05-01 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order).
Facilities Management & Service Delivery
- Lead hard and soft FM services across the UK estate.
- Develop and maintain FM specifications, SLAs, KPIs and audit processes.
- Oversee contractor performance, compliance and support business continuity arrangements.
New Builds, Refurbishments & Tenders
- Provide estates input into clinic design standards and tender processes.
- Ensure compliance throughout project lifecycles, including handover and post-occupancy reviews.
- Work closely with clinical and operational teams to support safe patient pathways.
Property Portfolio & Contracts
- Manage leases, rental costs, negotiations, break clauses and dilapidations.
- Oversee property risks and support contract negotiations with Legal and Finance teams.
ESG & Sustainability
- Lead estates contributions to Diaverum’s ESG and sustainability strategy.
- Drive initiatives to reduce carbon, energy use and waste, supporting Net Zero ambitions.
Financial Management & Leadership
- Manage estates OPEX and CAPEX budgets and support capital investment business cases.
- Line manage the Facilities Manager and provide visible, values-led leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement aligned with CQC Well-Led expectations
About You
You will be a credible senior estates professional with strong healthcare experience and a passion for safe, compliant and sustainable facilities.
Essential requirements include:
- Degree in construction, building services, estates management or a related field.
- Significant experience managing healthcare estates or regulated environments.
- Strong working knowledge of HTMs, HBNs, Building Regulations, HRB requirements and CQC requirements.
- Proven experience managing multi-site estates, contracts and suppliers.
- Knowledge of ESG principles and sustainability within property management.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- A collaborative, professional leadership style with high integrity.
